For most beginners, a magnetic 55–56 mm 3×3 with medium turning speed is the best starting point. You do not need an expensive competition flagship to learn.

The foundation for most methods and larger cubes.

Adds movable centers, edge pairing, and parity.
What to check
- Turning: smooth but not uncontrollably loose.
- Magnets: medium strength helps align layers.
