Build the first layer
Connect four white corners. Check that the two side colors on every corner also match the neighboring corners. A white face alone is not yet a solved layer.
A beginner-friendly 2×2 cube tutorial: solve the first layer, position the top corners, then twist them with two short algorithms.

Keep the same grip while twisting the last-layer corners. Between corners, turn only U.
Connect four white corners. Check that the two side colors on every corner also match the neighboring corners. A white face alone is not yet a solved layer.
A corner is in the correct position when its three colors belong between the three surrounding faces. Hold a correct corner at front-right before cycling the others.
U R U′ L′ U R′ U′ LHold an unsolved corner at upper-front-right. Repeat the sequence until its top color faces up, then move to the next corner with U only.
R′ D′ R DTurn the upper layer with U, U′, or U2 until every side becomes a solid color.
