Work in order
The route to a solved puzzle
The fixed center on each face identifies its color, making the color scheme easier to preserve than on a 4×4.
Build the opposite center
Solve the opposite color and keep it across from the first. Then complete the four side centers.
Build three-piece edges
Match one wing to the middle edge, add the second wing, then store the completed group in a safe layer.
Finish the last two edges
Temporarily open a solved edge, pair the final two edges, and restore the edge you opened.
Finish as a 3×3
Treat every center block as one center and each three-piece group as one edge. Continue with the regular 3×3 method.
